Second Arrest In Ronan Kerr Investigation
A second man has been arrested by detectives investigating the murder of Constable Ronan Kerr.
The arrest follows searches in County Tyrone and Cumbria in England.
A 39-year-old man was arrested under the Terrorism Act.
This follows the news on Monday evening that a 22-year-old man from Omagh was detained by police in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.
Constable Ronan Kerr was 25 years old when he was killed in a booby-trap car bomb in Omagh on 2 April 2011.
Dissident republican paramilitaries have been blamed for the murder.
Constable Kerr was a Catholic who had recently joined the PSNI.
The 39-year-old man has been taken to Antrim police station. He was not arrested on suspicion of murder, but is being questioned over incidents relating to the attack.
The 22-year-old man remains in custody.
The policeman’s death was particularly devastating, as the young Catholic and GAA fan was seen as a symbol of a post-Troubles Northern Ireland and of the new police force.
He joined the PSNI in May 2010.
A group claiming to consist of former members of the Provisional IRA later admitted responsibility for his murder.
Mr Kerr was the second police officer to be murdered since the formation of the PSNI in 2001.
