The Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD and Minister for Finance, Michael Noonan TD today announced that Vistakon Ireland plans to invest over €100 million in the expansion of its manufacturing operations and create 100 new highly skilled jobs at its site in the National Technology Park, Plassey, Limerick.

It is anticipated that recruitment of these third level positions will be completed by mid year. In addition, it is expected that the 18 month construction phase will create 200 temporary positions. Making the announcement Minister Bruton said: "Expanding employment in manufacturing is a key part of the Government’s plans for jobs and growth, and among the steps we have taken since coming into office is establishing an industry-led group to drive the creation of 20,000 jobs in this sector. Today’s announcement that this world-leading company is expanding its operations in Limerick with the creation of 100 new jobs, as well as 200 temporary construction jobs, is great news for the Mid West and a major vote of confidence in manufacturing in Ireland. I am determined to ensure that we build on this announcement through the Action Plan for Jobs to create the employment we need."

Minister Noonan said: "Vistakon Ireland has been a highly respected employer in the Mid West Region for over fifteen years. It has an extensive network of local and national suppliers for goods and services, all of which contribute significantly to the Irish economy."
