Hoax bomb alert at school condemned
East Belfast Alliance Councillor Naomi Long has expressed grave concern following a bomb alert at in Ballyhackamore.
While the device at St Joseph's Primary School was later declared a hoax Cllr Long condemned the actions of those who left there.
Cllr Long, who lives in the area, said: "This may have been an elaborate hoax, but it is an extremely worrying development. When children are dragged into potential danger, it makes an utterly reprehensible act even more disgusting.
"It is unbelievable that after the worldwide embarrassment of the Holy Cross protest that loyalist paramilitaries are still targeting Catholic children.
"I would call on anyone who might have witnessed any suspicious in the area overnight or early this morning to contact the PSNI at Strandtown, and ensure that the people responsible are brought to justice."
