Woman Pleads Guilty To £77k Benefit fraud

A woman has pleaded guilty to benefit fraud totalling £77,000 at Londonderry Magistrates Court.

40-year-old Surina Vig from Waterfoot Park in the city has admitted to committing acts of benefit fraud between March 2007 and July 2010.

She was charged with six offences of fraudulently obtaining income support and housing benefits by failing to disclose that her partner was her landlord and father of her child.

She will be sentenced in March.

Man Shot In L'Derry

A 29-year-old man has been injured in a shooting in L’Derry.

The man was shot in the foot in Meenan Square in the Bogside at about 20:30 on Tuesday evening.

SDLP Foyle MLA Pat Ramsey has been speaking to the man’s family. He said the victim’s injuries were not life-threatening.

Man Arrested Following 'Hit-And-Run'

A man has been arrested following a 'hit-and-run' incident in which a woman was knocked down.

The elderly woman was seriously injured when she was hit by a car on the Shore Road in Whiteabbey at about 14:40 on Tuesday.

The driver failed to remain at the scene, but later the PSNI detained a 34-year-old man on suspicion of dangerous driving, causing grievous bodily injury, failing to stop and report a crash and driving with excess alcohol.

He was arrested in Whiteabbey village.

The elderly woman’s injuries are thought to be non-life threatening.

The man was questioned and later released on bail.

Arrest Follows Lisbellaw Gun Incident

A man has been charged with possession of a gun in Lisbellaw, County Fermanagh.

The charges against the 27-year-old include intent to cause fear or violence.

The incident happened at a property in Lisbellaw on Saturday, 2 February.

No-one was injured in the incident. The man was arrested by police in County Fermanagh on Sunday.

He is expected to appear before Enniskillen Magistrates Court on 25 February.

Man Arrested Following Incident At House In Coleraine
A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident at a house in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. It happened at a property on Knockantern Grove in the Mountsandel area on Tuesday, 16 August. The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of possessing of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an offence and assault on police.

Man Released On Bail Over Lurgan Murder
A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Attempted Murder
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over an attack in Coleraine, Co L'Derry. A man, aged in his 50s, is in a critical condition in hospital after he was assaulted at a house on the Ballycastle Road on Monday, 26 September. Two other men were also arrested and have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Cannabis worth an estimated £42,000 has been seized and a 59-year-old man arrested in an operation in L'Derry. The 3kg of herbal cannabis was intercepted in the postal system on Tuesday, 02 April.

Man Arrested In L'Derry
A 20-year-old man has been arrested in L'Derry. Officers from the PSNI's Terrorism Investigation unit carried out a search at a property in connection with an ongoing on Wednesday, 04 November. A number of items were seized for further examination. The man was taken to be questioned, however he has now been released.
