Man recovering in hospital following paramilitary-style attack

A 23-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being shot in the leg in a paramilitary-style attack in Co Down.

The incident happened at around 1.30pm on Saturday on the Abbotts Road in Newtownards.

Police said the victim had tried to run away when he saw four men pull up alongside him in a red Ford Escort car.

They then gave chase and forced the man to the ground before shooting him in the right leg.

Elsewhere, police are appealing for information after two valuable shotguns were stolen from a house in Saintfield, Co Down.

The incident happened on the Monlough Road between 11am and 2pm on Friday.

Police have launched an investigation after a man was shot in the leg in Co Tyrone. The man left his home in the Clonabay area in Coalisland at around 3pm on Tuesday, and returned on Wednesday with a gunshot wound to his leg. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Man Shot In Legs In Co Armagh
A man has been shot in both legs in Co Armagh. A group of men forced their way into a house in the Meadowbank area of Craigavon and dragged the victim outside and shot him in both legs. The incident happened on Thursday night. The 26-year-old man has is being treated in hospital. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Man In His 60s Shot In The Leg In L'Derry
Police in L'Derry have issued an appeal for information following a shooting incident on Thursday night, 30 August. A man, aged in his 60s, suffered a gunshot wound to his leg when a number of masked men forced entry into a house in the Ballymagroarty area of the city at around 11pm.

Man Shot In County Down
A 28-year-old man has been shot in the leg in a gun attack in County Down. The man was getting out of his car at the Quays in Killyleagh at about 1.00am on Wednesday morning when a man approached him and shot him. The man is recovering in hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
