Special School Bus Crashes

A special school bus has overturned.

The PSNI report that the eleven children were on the bus when it crashed on the Vianstown Road, Downpatrick.

The children are not believed to have been harmed but were "extremely shaken".

Sinn Féin MLA Chris Hazzard has praised the driver of the bus.

Mr. Hazzard said: "I would praise both the driver and emergency services for their swift actions in ensuring the safety of the children on the bus.

"Although shocked himself I believe the driver worked to make sure that the children were comforted.

"I would also like to praise the emergency services for their swift reaction to this accident and the care and professionalism shown to the children.

"I am relieved that no one was seriously injured and hope that everyone makes a full and speedy recovery."

Translink Bus Strike 'Back On' From 17-23 May
The bus strike "is back on", the GMB Union has announced after their members rejected a revised pay offer. The union has said that drivers, cleaners and shunters across the company will walk out for seven days from 17 to 23 May 2022, "causing the entire bus network to grind to a halt".

Translink Urges Women To Take Up A Career In Bus Driving
Translink is urging women to find out more about a career as a bus driver. The firm is encouraging females to take part in 'Have A Go Days' to increase the numbers of women applying. Translink is currently recruiting for Metro, Glider and Ulsterbus drivers.
