BCD Travel Workers Threatened With Immediate Dismissal
SIPTU members employed by BCD Travel, which manages corporate travel arrangements for the Kerry Group, have been threatened with immediate dismissal and the non-payment of redundancy entitlements if they exercise their right to take industrial action.
The seven workers based in the Kerry Group head office in Tralee, Co. Kerry, were informed of the threat by the management of BCD Travel late last week following their unanimous vote to take industrial action on Wednesday, 6th March.
SIPTU Sector Organiser, Karan O’Loughlin, said: "The workers have been informed they are to lose their jobs as part of a company restructuring plan. They have been trying to negotiate terms with the company, which includes the retention of two positions. However, the company has refused to fully engage or even attend a meeting at the Labour Relations Commission."

LRC Step In Over Passport Dispute
The Labour Relations Commission has stepped into the dispute at the Passport Office where industrial action has led to a backlog of over 61,000 applications.
