Woman's Body Discovered In River Foyle

A woman's body has been recovered from the River Foyle in L'Derry.

It was discovered on Thursday afternoon flowing an extensive search by the Foyle Search & Rescue Team, assisted by the Sligo Coastguard.

Enquiries are ongoing to identify the body.

The rescue team were contacted by the police on Thursday following reports that a person had gone off the Foyle Bridge.

It is believed a second person may also be missing. A search is under way to locate Kieran McKeon, 18, from the Republic of Ireland.

The investigation continues.

Three Arrested in L'Derry For Drug Offences
Police in L'Derry have arrested three people and seized drugs worth an estimated £600. The arrests were made following a proactive policing operation in the city. On Monday, 18 November, officers observed suspicious behaviour from a 39-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman in the Strand Road area.

Woman's Body Pulled From River Foyle
The body of a woman has been recovered from the River Foyle in L'Derry, emergency services have confirmed. Foyle Search and Rescue were tasked to the scene at around 11pm on Monday 24 February following reports that a person had entered the water. They worked alongside the PSNI, NIFRS, Coastguard and the Irish Coastguard Helicopter.

Second Man Missing In River Foyle
Search and rescue teams who are looking for a missing teenager in the River Foyle, have said they are now looking for a second man. It is understood the man went into the river on Monday morning while crews were looking for missing 18-year-old Kieran McKeon. The body of Mr McKeon's companion, Alexandra O'Brien, was found in the river last Thursday.

New Funding Announced For NI Search and Rescue Groups
Justice Minister Naomi Long has announced funding of £100,000 for Northern Ireland Search and Rescue (NISAR) groups, bringing the total allocated to more than £1.2million in the past seven years. Nine voluntary search and rescue groups provide assistance to Northern Ireland emergency services on inland waterways, coastal areas, mountains and caves.

Body Discovered On Banks Of River Foyle
A body has been discovered on the banks of the River Foyle. The unidentified body was found on Tuesday, 18 April, the PSNI have confirmed. A post mortem will be carried out to determine the cause of death. No other details have been released.
