Province's surgery waiting lists fall
Surgery waiting lists in Northern Ireland have fallen radically, according to a new report.
The Audit Office report revealed that the number of people waiting more than 18 months for surgery has been cut by more than 20%.
The reduction by the Royal Group of Hospitals was partly achieved through extra operating sessions, thus achieving aims set out by the hospitals last summer.
The figures will come as a relief to the Royal Group after an independent report three weeks ago suggested that nearly 40% of weekday operating theatre capacity was not being used in hospitals across the province.
This latest survey was carried out over an eight-month period up to March this year.
