Jet2 Halts International Flights
An airline has announced it will cease operating at Belfast International Airport, citing safety concerns raised by a recent runway resurfacing scheme.
Jet2's domestic flights operating today between Belfast International and Leeds Bradford will now operate to and from Belfast City Airport.
The airline said all passengers on these flights should either check in at Belfast International or head straight to Belfast City Airport.
Jet2 has announced it will be maintaining the measures until it receives assurances regarding the safety issues.
Jet2 is expected to make an announcement on Tuesday regarding international flights operating this week.
A statement from the airline said: “We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause however the safety of our customers is of paramount importance. Please be assured Jet2.com are closely monitoring the situation and we will not operate from Belfast International Airport until we have reassurances on the runway maintenance."
All other Jet2.com flights for today are currently planned to operate as normal.
The company says passengers and customers can keep informed via www.jet2.com/info.
Jet2 will also be sending email and SMS text alerts to customers affected by a schedule change who booked direct with Jet2.com and registered their mobile phone number at the time of booking.
