PSNI Appeal Over Garda Murder

The PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch officers have been assisting An Garda Siochana with the investigation into the murder of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe on 25 January.

The PSNI and Gardai have launched an appeal, encouraging people to come forward if they can provide any information.

The 41-year-old was shot dead during a robbery at a credit union in Bellurgan, near Dundalk.

He was the first member of the force to be shot dead on duty since 1996.

The appeal relates to a white HGV lorry parked on the Shean Road, Forkhill, on the evening of Friday 25 January, the night of the murder across the border at Lordship Credit Union, Co Louth when Detective Donohoe was shot.

It is believed the gang responsible travelled into Northern Ireland in a stolen car after the attack. It is also believed that the lorry broke down at some stage during the robbery.

Gardai and PSNI are trying to identify the lorry driver, as well as anyone who may have been involved in the service or recovery of the vehicle.

No arrests have been made since the PSNI's search operation in south Armagh this week.
