Men Charged With Church Car Theft
Four men have been charged with stealing a car while its owner was photographing an event in a church.
The men, aged 16, 18 and 20, allegedly stole the black Toyota Avensis from the church premises near the Newtownbreda Road area in Belfast on Thursday 11 April between 13:00 and 14:00.
The vehicle was recovered a short time later close to the Kings Bridge.
The men will appear at Belfast Magistrate Court on Thursday 9 May.
Speaking about the arrests and charges Castlereagh Area Commander CI Derek Martin said: "I am very pleased that we have had such a positive outcome to this incident. I believe that churches and places of worship should be places that can remain open to the community without fear of theft or vandalism. People should be able to enjoy their faith without fear of crime.
"Criminals in the area who wish to engage in this type of crime should be warned that we will put the full resources of the area or indeed the district to ensuring that they are caught and brought before the courts."
Gambling Machines Seized In L'Derry
Police in L'Derry have seized gambling machines during a day long operation throughout the city to tackle illegal gambling.
The operation has recovered £25,000, while dozens of gaming machines were also seized during the planned raids.
Operation Blackjack visited 15 premises. One man has been arrested.
Around 60 police officers took part in the operation, joined by a member of the Gaming Commission from London.
Police Appeal Over Criminal Damage
Police in Castlereagh are appealing for information following an incident of criminal damage to a property in the Ballynahinch road area.
Shortly after 09:00 on Mon 15 April police received a report that a vacant house had been broken into.
Pipes were cut, causing extensive water damage, and the house was also ransacked.
Police have estimated the cost of the damage at approximately £10,000.
Anyone who noticed any unusual activity in the area is asked to contact police at Castlereagh on 0845 600 8000. The independent Crimestoppers charity can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
L'Derry Bomb Alert 'A Hoax'
A bomb alert in L'Derry which caused several houses to be evacuated yesterday has been declared a hoax.
Police and Army bomb disposal officers were called to the scene at Blucher Street following the discovery of a suspicious object. It was later declared a hoax.
The road has now reopened and residents, who were being housed at the Gasyard Centre on nearby Lecky Road, have been able to return.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Man Arrested Over Moira Police Station Attack
A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a car bomb attack on Moira police station in 1998. The suspect is being questioned at Antrim police station. He was detained in the Moy area of County Tyrone this morning.
