Stanley McAuley Murder: Woman Released

A 20-year-old woman arrested in connection with the murder of Stanley McAuley has been released.

41-year-old Mr McAuley was discovered by police in an alleyway at Chamberlain Street in east Belfast at about 01:00 on Sunday morning, following reports of serious assault.

He was unconscious when police found him and was taken by ambulance to the Royal Victoria Hospital. He later died from his injuries.

A 32-year-old man charged with the Mr McAuley's murder appeared in court in Belfast on Wednesday.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the Newtownards Road/Chamberlain Street area between 01:00 and 01:30 and who may have noticed any suspicious activity to contact them at Musgrave on 0845 600 8000.

Election Canvassers Attacked In Derry
A team of canvassers has been attacked in Londonderry. The group, which included a number of candidates from the People Before Profit Alliance Party, was in Nelson Drive in the Waterside area when they were approached by a group of men aged between 25-30. One of the canvassers had to receive hospital treatment following the attack.

28-Year-Old Arrested In Connection With Violent Ballymena Attack
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a stabbing incident in Ballymena. A man is being treated in hospital for serious injuries to his head, neck and stomach after he was reportedly attacked at his home in the Grove Road area. The incident is said to have taken place shortly after 4am this morning.

Paul McAuley Murder: Man Arrested In England
A 61-year-old man has been arrested in England over the murder of Paul McAuley. Mr McAuley died in a care facility in June last year, almost nine years after he was attacked in L'Derry. The suspect was detained in Kent on Wednesday, 06 April, and has been brought to Northern Ireland for questioning.
