Woman Dies After Car Crash

A woman in her 70s has died in hospital, two days after a car crash in County Antrim.

The woman was injured in the collision, which happened near Loanends at about 21:00 on 16 April.

The pensioner died from her injuries on Thursday evening.

Dee Street Reopens

Dee Street bridge over the Sydenham bypass in east Belfast is to re-open this weekend.

The bridge, which was closed as part of an improvement scheme, will re-open to traffic on Saturday 20 April. ‪

Regional Development Minister Danny Kennedy said: "This bridge improvement scheme, costing around £300,000, was essential work to improve safety for road and rail users. It comprised replacing the existing brick walls with traditional metal parapets, installing new high kerbs and improving the footway.

"The work has been completed on time and I want to thank motorists, and the local community, for their patience during this period. I am sure they will welcome the re-opening of this important link between East Belfast and the Harbour estate.

L'Derry Building Collapses

A building has collapsed in L'Derry's Fountain area.

The unoccupied derelict building collapsed at Kennedy Place.

A car has been damaged due to falling debris, however no injuries have been reported.

Kennedy Place has been closed to traffic.

Foster Opens New Blue Zinc Premises

Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has officially opened Belfast company Blue Zinc Ltd’s new premises on its 10th anniversary of trading.

The new premises are on the Castlereagh Road in east Belfast.

The company specialises in practice management software for private medical clinics, hospitals and businesses.

Officially opening Blue Zinc’s offices, the Minister said: "Today is an opportunity to celebrate not just the opening of these new premises but also 10 successful years in business. Moreover, it is a chance to take stock of Blue Zinc’s achievement to date and to look ahead to its further development, which includes more new staff this year and a continuing focus on strengthening its profile in key overseas markets."

Life's A Beach As Blue Flags Flutter
As summer weather again brightens-up Northern Ireland today - with blue skies and temperatures as high as 23C - there was good news and not so good news on local beaches. The Stormont Environment Minister Alex Attwood has presented awards that recognise the high quality of Northern Ireland beaches and coastal waters.

Local beaches awarded Blue Flags
Eight beaches in Northern Ireland have been awarded Blue Flags on meeting the guideline standards. Last year the same number of awards were given to beaches with litter-free sands and bathing waters. Portrush East Strand, which missed out last year, was added, while Downhill Beach has gone off the list.

Armed Man Robs Shop In South Belfast
Police have launched an investigation following an armed robbery at a shop in south Belfast. A man, believed to have been armed with a handgun, entered the premises on the Lockview Road just before 10.15pm on tuesday, 30 January. He made off with a sum of cash and a significant amount of cigarettes and scratch cards.

Gang Steals Car From North Belfast House
A masked gang has stolen a man's car after threatening him at his home in North Belfast. Three men went into the house in Hopefield Avenue at around 9pm on Tuesday night. The gang threatened the man before making off in his navy blue Volkswagon Passat. The vehicle's registration is XCZ 5540.
