Intel Acquires Aepona
Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster has welcomed the announcement that Aepona, one of Northern Ireland’s most internationally successful software companies, has been acquired by global technology giant, Intel.
Arlene Foster said: "The acquisition of Aepona by Intel is a tremendous endorsement of the skills of our workforce and the strength of Northern Ireland’s technology sector as key drivers for growth.
"Since 1999, Aepona has worked to develop its business into the competitive and internationally respected firm that it is today. It is no surprise therefore, that it has attracted the attention of one of the biggest and most well known technology companies in the world.
"Intel will benefit from Aepona's wealth of skills, expertise and highly advanced technology and Northern Ireland will benefit from the presence of yet another global technology leader.
"Intel will join others including IBM, Visa, HP and NYSE Euronext which have chosen to locate operations here by acquiring locally-based businesses with the knowledge, skills and technology to drive future growth.
"I hope that Intel continues to build upon Aepona's strong relationship with Invest Northern Ireland as it develops its presence here."
