58 Jobs To Go At Xtra-Vision
58 jobs are expected to be lost with the closure of eleven Xtra-Vision shops in Northern Ireland.
The DVD and videogame rental store has has gone into receivership, with many blaming the state of the economy along with a rise in online streaming and movie downloads.
A further 54 jobs are expected to be lost when nine Xtra-Vision stores close in the Republic of Ireland.
The outlets in Northern Ireland which will close are Newtownards, the Lisburn Road, Downpatrick, Glengormley, the Antrim Road, Coleraine, Newry, Carryduff, the Shore Road, Holywood and the Ormeau Road.
In the Republic of Ireland, one store will close in Roscrea, County Tipperary, while eight will shut in Dublin: Ongar, Carpenterstown, Rathmines, Baggot Street, Tallaght, Phibsborough and two in Swords.
A buyer is reportedly being sought for the remaining 31 outlets in Northern Ireland that will stay open.
Joint receiver Luke Charleton of Ernst and Young said: "It is regrettable that we have had to schedule these store closures and we are extremely grateful to the employees and management at all the stores for their loyalty and support during what has been a very difficult and uncertain time.
"We are keen to stress that those stores unaffected by these closures will continue to trade as normal."

Lidl Northern Ireland has announced the reopening of its Stewartstown Road store in West Belfast and the opening of a new store in Carryduff. The Stewartstown Road store, which has undergone a major redevelopment, will reopen on December 5th. The new Carryduff store, Lidl’s 43rd in Northern Ireland, will open on December 12th.
