First Ministers Congratulate Game Of Thrones BAFTA
The First and deputy First Minister have congratulated HBO fantasy epic Game of Thrones on winning the Radio Times Audience Award at the BAFTAs.
The show, which is based on the books A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin, is filmed in various locations around Northern Ireland, including at Titanic Studios in Belfast.
First Minister Peter Robinson said: "Congratulations to everyone involved in the success of Game of Thrones. The series has shone a spotlight on our local television and film production talent in Northern Ireland.
"Securing the filming of the fourth series by Home Box Office's Game of Thrones demonstrates the Executive's commitment to investing in the creative industries to help grow the Northern Ireland economy."
Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness added: "Game of Thrones has beaten off stiff competition from other popular TV series to win the only BAFTA voted for by the viewers.
"The series' international popularity has put the north of Ireland on the world map, not only as a filming location, but it has raised our profile as a tourist destination."

Situated at the Linen Mill Studios in Banbridge, the original filming location for many iconic scenes, the tour will give visitors a closer look at original set pieces, costumes, props and weapons that were used to create the fantasy worlds of Westeros and Essos.
