Taser Gun Used On Youth
Police have confirmed that officers used a taser gun to restrain a young person in north Belfast on Tuesday evening.
The PSNI was responding to a report of a car being damaged in the area.
When they entered a property in Alexandra Park Avenue, the officers were met by a group of five young people who were allegedly armed with iron bars and knives.
The officers called for the young people to put down their weapons. One officer was injured in the incident.
Five young people were arrested.
The Police Ombudsman has been informed.
Men Jailed For Broadway Rioting
Five men have been jailed for rioting which took place on 12 July last year.
One of the men, 19-year-old Brendan Hughes, is the grandson of former Republican prisoner Brendan Hughes.
Also involved in the incident were Shaun McCann, 20, and Martin Murray, 19. The three were given 16 months in custody with time on licence.
Thomas Murray, 21, and Martin Downey, 37, were sentenced to ten and six months each respectively.
The incident occurred during 12 July parades, when the five men attempted to make their way from the Broadway roundabout to the loyalist Glenmachan area but were stopped by police.
Tyrone Man Jailed For Benefit Fraud
A man has been jailed for claiming £3,836 of benefits he was not entitled to.
34-year-old Paul Reid of Loughbracken Road, Pomeroy, was convicted at Dungannon Magistrates court.
He claimed Income Support totalling £3,836 while failing to declare capital.
Mr Reid will also have to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
Apex HOusing Opens In Belfast
The new Belfast offices for Apex Housing Association have opened.
Formerly with headquarters in L'Derry, Apex has relocated due to an increase in housing stock in recent years.
The new site is at The Gasworks on the Ormeau Road and will accommodate a total of nine staff, who will serve the Greater Belfast area and the south east of Northern Ireland.
Housing Minister Nelson McCausland visited the premises today.
He said: "I am impressed by what I have seen today. Apex is one of our biggest housing associations and makes a large contribution to meeting housing need throughout Northern Ireland, not only in terms of housing for rent and regeneration initiatives, but now housing for sale."

Crumlin Social Housing Scheme Opened
A new social housing scheme of three and four bedroom houses has been officially opened in Crumlin. The fourteen new homes for families on the social housing waiting list, is owned and managed by Habinteg Housing Association who funded the build, with support from the Department for Social Development.

A new £5m social housing scheme in has been opened in north Belfast. The opening of the 40, two-bedroom apartments follows the development of Brookfield Mill, a former linen mill. The five-story accommodation was provided by Flax Housing Association with part funding from the Northern Ireland Executive through the Department for Social Development.
