Belfast Traffic Management Enters Final Phase
The final phase of Belfast city centre's traffic management arrangements is to get under way.
The work to introduce new bus lanes as part of the Belfast on The Move initiative has now moved to Wellington Place, Chichester Street and Donegall Square East.
Alterations to kerb lines and traffic islands and re-surfacing will be carried out with night time road closures over the next 2 weeks.
From tomorrow, Friday 17 May, a bus lane will come into operation on Donegall Square East, which will restrict movement from Donegall Square East into Adelaide Street to buses, taxis, motorcycles and cycles only between 07:00 and 19:00, Monday to Saturday.
A spokesperson from the Department for Regional Development’s Roads Service said: "Beginning on Friday (17 May) traffic travelling from Wellington Place and Donegall Square East will no longer be permitted to cross May Street into Adelaide Street. The new restrictions will apply from 7am and 7pm Monday to Saturday.
"Drivers should plan ahead and use an alternative route."
