Fermanagh Security Alert Ends

A security alert in the Kinawley area of County Fermanagh has ended.

A suspicious object was reported close to the village early on Tuesday morning.

Several homes were evacuated and a number of roads were closed to traffic for a lengthy period.

Army bomb experts declared the alert an elaborate hoax and a PSNI spokesperson said the affected roads have now reopened.

It is the second alert in two days for the county. On Monday, an alert in nearby Enniskillen was also declared a hoax.

DUP Fermanagh and South Tyrone MLA Arlene Foster condemned those behind the latest incidents.

She said: "On Monday there was an alert in Enniskillen which disrupted the court schedule in the town and now on Tuesday there is another alert in Kinawley village.

"Those behind these alerts are trying to stir up tension and cause division.

"Everyone should work with the police to ensure these terrorists who cling to the past are removed from our streets and brought before the courts."
