Police Use Tasar In Portadown

The Police Ombudsman is investigating the use of a tasar in the early hours of this morning in Portadown.

Shortly after midnight the PSNI were called to an incident in the Shandon Square area of the town, during which they discharged a Tasar on a man.

The incident has been referred to the Police Ombudsman who will carry out an investigation to establish if the firearm was used appropriately.

The PSNI have asked West Midlands Police to investigate an alleged domestic incident at the home of Police Ombudsman Marie Anderson. It is understood that officers attended a "report of a domestic incident" at an address in Co Down on Saturday, September 23, at around 6.30pm.

Seven Police Officers Disciplined Over Pensioner's Death
Seven police officers have been disciplined over an investigation into the death of Lisburn man Jim Heasley in October 2010. The 70-year-old was assaulted as he walked home from Lagan Valley Pigeon Club. An investigation by the Police Ombudsman found a series of failings in the initial police response.

Officer 'Justified' In Holding Man's Head Against Window
A PSNI officer was justified in holding a man's head against the window of a police car to prevent him from spitting, according to an investigation by the Police Ombudsman. The man complained that the officer had without warning hit his head against the window and then caused him to choke by continuing to press on his head and neck.
