£6,500 Stolen From Charity
Thieves have stolen £6,500 worth of equipment from a brain injury charity in Castlereagh.
Reconnect's base on the Lisnabreeny Road was broken into and a generator, trailer and other items stolen between Thursday and Friday morning.
Robin Newton, DUP MLA and Member of the Committee for Enterprise, Trade and Investment said: "Words cannot describe the low-life type of criminals who broke into the charity’s premises and stole goods to the value of £6,500.
"This charity which had to move from premises on Ravenhill Road several years ago, due to vandalism and anti-social behaviour, relies on the work of volunteers to keep going.
"Nothing can be more disheartening than to see the hard work of the volunteers being lost due to thieves operating under cover of darkness. Those who would do such a thing have nothing to offer our society and deserve severe punishment."
