Gallaher to cut 175 jobs in Co Antrim
Cigarette maker, Gallahers is set to cut 175 jobs at its factory in Co Antrim.
The company said the decision, which will be part of an overhaul of its European operations, would mean the company would also have to close down its factory in Dublin.
With more than 1,000 employees in Northern Ireland, the tobacco giant will cut 130 jobs at its Ballymena plant this year with a further 45 jobs over the next two years.
In a statement released on Tuesday the company also revealed further cuts across the UK and Austria. It said: "After careful consideration of the review, the group is planning to cease all manufacturing in its Dublin factory and also to reduce jobs in Austria and the UK. Overall, around 430 operational jobs could be affected."
Gallahers, which was founded in Northern Ireland in 1840, is one of the biggest names in the tobacco industry, with brands that include Benson and Hedges and Silk Cut.

Eircom, the former Republic of Ireland state telephone company, is set to axe a further 50 jobs at its Northern Ireland operation. These latest redundancies, which will be in the data handling division, cuts the number of Eircom employees in Northern Ireland to 90, half the number employed at the turn of the year.

Almost 200 jobs could go in Fermanagh
Almost 200 jobs could be axed if a County Fermanagh food plant is forced to close. Moy Park foods has said that it has entered into talks with staff over the possible closure of its factory, formerly known as Ferne Foods, in Lisnaskea.
