Attempted robbery at west Belfast Post Office

Police are appealing for information after two men attempted to rob a Post Office in west Belfast yesterday.

At around 1pm the two men entered the post office on the Andersonstown Road. While one stood guard at the door, the other used a handgun to threaten the two members of staff behind the counter.

The gunman then fired a single shot towards the counter before fleeing the scene empty handed. While no one was hurt staff were left in a state of shock.

The armed man has been described as around six foot tall, wearing a baseball cap, which was possibly blue in colour, and had white material covering his face.

Anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the attempted robbery are being asked to contact Grosvenor Road on 028 9065 0222 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
