BBC Announces Media Training For NI's 'Expert' Women

Female experts from Northern Ireland are being invited to a free BBC training session to help prepare them for the world of media and broadcasting.

The BBC is running the class on 18 September to "help recognised women feel comfortable in front of the camera."

Up to 30 women will be offered training and master classes in television and radio.

The BBC is looking for women who are experts in the following fields:

- Political and Social Analysis

- History, including the recent history of Northern Ireland

- Business and Entrepreneurship

- Law and Ethics

- Medicine

- Science

- Money Matters

- Environment and the Natural World.

Similar training sessions have been held in London and Salford earlier this year. The BBC says those sessions attracted more than 2,000 applications and trained more than 90 women.

Tim Davie, the former acting director-general and chief executive officer of BBC Worldwide, said the Expert Women's Day was a "vital new resource for the corporation's programme makers looking for female specialist contributors".

More information is available via the BBC website.
