Belfast Telegraph print hall damaged by fire
A fire within the main building of the Belfast Telegraph on Royal Avenue in Belfast has put the newspapers printing operation out of action for the first time in 20 years.
It is believed that the fire, which occurred on Monday night, was started by a spark from a welders torch that ignited a stack of papers in the press hall.
However, the press hall sprinklers, which were set off by the resulting blaze, are said to have caused the majority of the damage to the printing equipment.
At the height of the blaze around 40 firefighters where called to tackle the fire.
The newspaper printing operation will now be out of action for a number of days.
A number of publications which are printed at the Royal Avenue building, such as local editions of the Sun and Daily Telegraph, have had to seek alternative printing houses for their latest editions.
Until the damage to the printing equipment in the press hall is repaired the Belfast Telegraph will also have to be printed elsewhere.

Pedestrian Injured In Belfast Hit-and-Run
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a hit-and-run incident in the Botanic Avenue area of Belfast in the early hours of Thursday morning. Officers were called to the scene shortly before 1.30am after a male pedestrian was struck by a maroon Mazda. Despite being injured, the pedestrian left the area before police arrived.
