Two Police Stations To Close
The PSNI has said two of its stations are to close.
Broughshane and Portglenone police stations will cease to be operational from midnight on 31 August 2013.
After that date, the policing service for the area will be delivered from Ballymena, where the Broughshane and Portglenone Neighbourhood teams will commence their shifts.
The official closure comes as part of an overall estates review, the results of which were published in March 2012.
The review considered a range of options concerning stations across H district and included extensive consultation with members of the community and elected representatives.
Commenting on the decision, Inspector John Allen said: "The closure of the stations is a poignant event for the many people in the community. However policing isn't about buildings, it is about officers working with the community and delivering a personal, professional and protective service. "Our neighbourhood officers will continue to work in and around the Broughshane and Portglenone areas and will be as visible as ever."
Mr Allen added that members of the public can continue to contact police on 0845 600 8000 or in the case of an emergency please dial 999.
The PSNI website also provides full contact details for the Ballymena Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team.
