Security Alert At Lurgan Special School
A security alert at a special school in Lurgan has resulted in the discovery of a suspicious device, according to police.
Ceara School on Sloan Street was placed under alert after a bomb threat was phoned in overnight.
Army bomb experts have been called in to deal with the object.
SDLP Policing Board member Dolores Kelly said: "This security alert at Ceara School is completely unacceptable and distressing for the pupils and their families. As local people will know, Ceara School is a special needs school and this kind of disruption can make students really anxious.
"The residents around the area are also being removed from their homes while the police attend to the scene which is inconvenient, particularly given the bad weather today, but can also create real worry in the community.
"Those behind these alerts must realise that they do not have the support of the community and that they are serving no purpose or cause. Anyone with any information on this alert or those behind it should contact the PSNI."
