Northern Ireland Is UK's Happiest Region

Northern Ireland has been found to have the happiest population in the UK, according to a new report by the ONS.

Using data from the Annual Population Survey from April 2012 to March 2013, the Office for National Statistics found that a third of people in Northern Ireland gave a nine out of ten rating for life satisfaction.

England scored lowest in the same rating, with Scotland found to be the 'least anxious'.

The survey asked four questions, asking people to rate their response from 0 to 10 – 0 being "not at all" and 10 being "completely".

The survey found:

For life satisfaction 33% of people in NI marked 9 out of 10, Scotland came second with 27%, Wales third with 26.8% and England last with 25.6%.

For how worthwhile they felt their lives are, 37.6% in NI gave top marks, with 31.9% in Wales, 31.2% in England and 31% in Scotland.

The full survey breakdown can be found on the ONS website.
