Water Supply To Get £10.2m Upgrade

A £10.2 million upgrade to Belfast's water supply is due to begin in November and run until December 2014.

As part of the upgrade some 40 miles of new water mains will be laid in the south, north and west of the city.

It is understood that half of the money will be spent in west Belfast, specifically on the Andersonstown, Falls Road, Springfield Road and Whiterock areas.

Approximately £3, will be spent in the Belvoir, Newtownbreda, Finaghy, Maloneand Balmoral Avenue areas.

The remaining £2m will be spent in the greater Shankill, Antrim Road and Shore Road areas of north Belfast.

Road Closed In North Belfast Following Collision
The Ligoniel Road in north Belfast has closed following a one-vehicle collision. The road has been closed in both directions near the Wolfhill Road, according to the police. Diversions have been put in place and motorists are being advised to avoid the area. No other details have been released.

Man Dies In Workplace Accident In Co Armagh
A man has died in a workplace accident in Co Armagh. It is believed the man was crushed by a road roller while a new road surface was being laid on the Bog Road, Forkhill, on Wednesday, 31 May. Police and the Health and Safety Executive have launched an investigation.
