7,000 Apply For 100 PSNI Jobs
More than 7,000 people have applied for 100 jobs with the PSNI.
The recruitment drive is the first for the force in three years.
On Thursday, the PSNI released the recruitment figures, and Deputy Chief Constable Judith Gillespie said she was encouraged by the response to the campaign.
Around 30% of applicants are from a Catholic background.
She added that there could be a possibility of a further 300 jobs in policing in Northern Ireland in the next financial year.
She said: "We are very hopeful, given the case we have made to the Department of Justice, the Northern Ireland Office and the Policing Board, that that will increase in the next financial year up to a maximum of 378 jobs.
"It is great news. A hundred new jobs, potentially another 378 new jobs, a fantastic career in policing and I am very pleased so many people are interested."

PSNI performance figures released
Newly released PSNI performance figures have revealed that although the detection rate for violent crime has increased, it is still well below the target set by the Northern Ireland Policing Board. The targets are set in the Annual Policing Plan which the Board publishes every March.
