Homes Evacuated In N Belfast Bomb Alert
A number of homes in north Belfast were evacuated last night, following the discovery of a suspicious object at Spamount Street.
Army bomb squad officers were at the scene on Monday morning.
Spamount Street was closed to traffic between North Queen Street and Lepper Street.
21-Year-Old Tax Fugitive Jailed
A 21-year-old man who was on a list of the most wanted tax fugitives for tobacco fraud has been jailed after handing himself into the authorities.
Michael 'Arthur' Fearon from Newry, County Down, handed himself in to police on Thursday, after being placed on HMRC's 'most wanted' list.
He is now in Magheraberry Prison serving a sentence for tobacco fraud.
Mr Fearon was initially arrested on 29 June 2010 and pleaded 'not guilty' in March last year when charged in connection with the evasion of excise duty of nearly 8.4m.
Mr Fearon absconded during his trial on 19 September last year, but was tried and found guilty in his absence.
He was sentenced as a minor to one year imprisonment and one year on licence.
Blind Man Assaulted In Bangor
A blind man has been assaulted in Bangor over the weekend.
The victim was punched in the chest by an unknown man, following what is reported to have been an altercation with the man's wife on Saturday afternoon.
The incident happened at about 12.45 in the Castle Park Avenue area.
City Hall Grounds Closed
Th grounds of Belfast City Hall are to be closed to the general public until noon on 16 December, due to preparations for the Christmas Lights Switch-On and Continental Market.
Access to the City Hall during this period will be via the entrances on Donegall Square South and Donegall Square East.
Access to the Cenotaph and Garden of Remembrance has been maintained for this morning's Armistice Day service.

Man Released On Bail Over Lurgan Murder
A man arrested in connection with a murder in Lurgan on Sunday, 06 August, has been released on bail pending further enquiries. The body of a man, aged 45, was discovered at a flat on Victoria Street. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of Conor McKee
A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Conor McKee. Mr McKee was found dead at his home in Glenpark Street in north Belfast on Thursday, 07 January. He had been shot a number of times. The suspect is being questioned at a police station in Belfast.

A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a report of an assault at licenced premises at the Rathfriland Road area of Dromara. Detective Inspector Bell said: "Shortly before 10:10pm on Friday 15th December, it was reported that an altercation occurred at a bar in the area following three men refused entry to the premises.

An 18-year-old man has died following a collision in Portadown. The crash happened on the Dungannon Road between midnight and 12.30am on Wednesday, 08 November. The road has been re-opened. Elsewhere, a man, aged in his 30's, has died in a road collision in Co Antrim.
