Jobs Fair In Belfast Opens
Employment and Learning Minister Dr Stephen Farry is inviting local jobseekers to seize the day as his Department's Jobs Fair and Advice Forum returns to Belfast's Europa Hotel from 10am to 6pm.
The Minister said: "I am especially pleased to see job opportunities across a wide range of employment sectors at this event. This Jobs Fair and Advice Forum brings employers, support organisations and jobseekers together under one roof. Clearly these events demonstrate that, despite the current economic climate, employers are still looking to recruit both seasonal and permanent staff and that there are employment opportunities for jobseekers."
Fifty-six employers have confirmed their attendance on the day and over 1,100 vacancies will be on offer. Advice and guidance will also be available on a range of training and re-skilling opportunities. Major employers with jobs available on the day include Norbrook Laboratories, Marks & Spencer, Firstsource Solutions, Concentrix and the Lloyds Banking Group. Large and small employers from across Northern Ireland will be available to answer questions, discuss training and offer employment opportunities.
A number of other support organisations will also form a 'Youth Village' at the event to prove information, advice and guidance in career, educational and training opportunities for younger jobseekers. Exhibitors in the Youth Village include the Princes Trust, Include Youth, construction company GRAHAM Bam, the Irish Football Association (IFA) and Bombardier who are inviting jobseekers to visit their stand and talk directly to the company about any upcoming opportunities.
The Minister continued: "As well as the Youth Village, a range of support organisations, for example my Department’s Careers Service and Employment Service, will also be present to provide individuals with information, advice and guidance on a range of training and employment schemes that can assist individuals progress towards work and better employment prospects, equipping them with the skills to compete in the labour market and meet the needs of employers both now and in the future."
