£138m Social Fund Paid During 2012/13
Over £138m of social fund payments have been delegated to people across Northern Ireland during 2012/13.
The Social Fund Annual Report was published today, revealing that thousands of people have been provided with support including winter fuel and funeral Payments, as well as Community Care Grants, Budgeting Loans and Crisis Loans over the period.
Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland said: "During 2012-13, the Social Fund continued to help those on low incomes to cope with unexpected emergencies and to manage unanticipated expenditure. I am pleased to announce that it has helped many thousands of people throughout Northern Ireland with a range of expenses, as well as helping with funerals, winter fuel and maternity costs.
"I know that the assistance given by the Social Fund can help alleviate the worry that many people on low incomes can suffer when faced with unforeseen emergencies or unanticipated expenditure."
