Man Charged With Double Murder
A man has been charged with killing two Catholic men in Belfast almost 20 years ago.
Gary Convie, 24, and Eamon Fox, 44, were shot by the UVF as they sat in a car near a building site on North Queen Street in May 1994.
Both men were builders from Co Armagh. They were attacked by a gunman, who was armed with a sub-machine gun, as they ate their lunch close to the site they were working on.
The accused, who is 42, was detained in north Belfast on Monday morning (6 January) where he was taken to the Serious Crime Suite at Antrim police station for questioning.
It is understood he has also been charged with the attempted murder of a third man, and of being in possession of a firearm.
One man has already been convicted in relation to the murders.
