Belfast hosts Cystic Fibrosis Conference
Belfast has played host to one of the biggest medical meetings ever to come to Northern Ireland.
The 26th European Cystic Fibrosis Conference, which took place in June, attracted over 1,400 delegates from across the world.
The Conference brought together all those working within the field of Cystic Fibrosis (CF) - researchers, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, social workers and dieticians - for an intensive scientific programme of workshops, symposia and discussion on the latest scientific developments.
Professor Stuart Elborn, Conference Chairman described the conference, which took place at Belfast's Waterfront Hall, as "one of the highlights of the year for those involved in CF research and clinical care".
Cystic Fibrosis is the most common life threatening autosomal recessive genetic disorder in Northern Ireland and other North-west European countries.
There are currently 400 people in Northern Ireland with the disease who have their care co-ordinated by the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children until aged 18 and then by the adult centre at Belfast City Hospital.

The service will offer advice, assessment, and treatment for people aged five and over who are suffering from a sore throat.
