Man Fined For Dumping Tyres At Bonfire Site
A man has been fined for unauthorised waste tyre disposal after pulling up a lorry beside a bonfire in north Belfast and dumping a quantity of tyres.
36-year-old Gavin Anderson of Loranville, Larne, was fined £400 at Belfast Magistrates' Court today for unauthorised waste activities.
Mr Anderson was the driver of a curtain-sided lorry which, on 4 June 2013, was observed parked beside a bonfire site located in the Mount Vernon Estate.
Following an investigation by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency, Mr Anderson pleaded guilty on two counts under the Waste and Contaminated Land (NI) Order 1997 and was fined £200 on each count.

Pedestrian Injured In Belfast Hit-and-Run
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a hit-and-run incident in the Botanic Avenue area of Belfast in the early hours of Thursday morning. Officers were called to the scene shortly before 1.30am after a male pedestrian was struck by a maroon Mazda. Despite being injured, the pedestrian left the area before police arrived.
