Suicide Bomb Victim Returned To Family In NI
The body of a man killed in a suicide bomb attack in Kabul nine days ago has been returned to Northern Ireland.
Simon Chase was among 21 people killed when a suicide attacker detonated his explosives outside the gate of a heavily fortified restaurant before two gunmen entered the premises and opened fire on people inside.
Mr Chase, originally from Chester, was living in Limavady with his partner and two sons. He had been working in Afghanistan for the EU police mission.
Man Arrested In Connection With Attempted Murder Of Teenagers
Police have arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of the attempted murder of two teenagers in west Belfast.
According to police, a 19-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were attacked at a house in the North Howard Street area at about 03:30 on Monday.
Police have appealed for anyone with any information to contact them.
Police Appeal For Witnesses To Co Down Assault
Police in Co Down have appealed for witnesses to an attack on a man in The Green area of Drumaness.
Police responded to a report of a man being attacked at around 23:55 on Sunday.
The 35-year-old victim was taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
A 33-year-old man was arrested a short time later, along with a 26-year-old woman, in connection with the incident.

The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of George Gilmore
A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. The suspect was detained in Co Antrim on Wednesday, 12 April, and is being questioned at Musgrave police station.

A man has been arrested in connection with police inquiries into a murder in 1988. The body of Lily Smyth, 66, was found in her flat at Moveen House in Dunmurry on October 9, 1988. The pensioner had been strangled. A police spokesperson said that a 43-year-old man had been arrested and is being questioned at Antrim Police Station.

A man aged in his 50s has died in a house fire in Magherafelt, Co L'Derry An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire at a house on Highfield Road, however police said that they don't believe the fire was suspicious. The man's identity has not yet been released.

Police have said they believe missing Omagh man, Shane Sharkey, has been found in the Republic of Ireland. A police appeal for help in finding the 35-year-old has been cancelled, with police saying they now believe they know where he is. No further details have been released but police thanked the public for their help.
