Second Phase Of Lurgan Improvement Scheme Begins

The Roads Service £120,000 improvement scheme being delivered in conjunction with the Lurgan Environmental scheme at Edward Street in the town is set to move into its second phase.

The resurfacing of Edward Street is being carried out in two phases with most elements of the work scheduled to be carried out at weekends.

The first stage of the resurfacing from Millenium Way to Sloan Street is expected to be complete by Monday 17 February.

Work on the second stage of the scheme, from Sloan Street to its junction with the Old Portadown Road will mainly take place at weekends and will involve road closures between Hill Street and Old Portadown Road from 6:00 pm on Saturday 22 February until 6:00 am on Monday 24 February and from 6:00 am on Sunday 2 March until 6:00 am on Monday 3 March.

Man Dies In East Belfast Attack
Police have released the name of a man who died after being found in an alleyway in east Belfast in the early hours of Sunday 14 April. Detectives from PSNI Serious Crime Branch have now launched a murder investigation after 41-year-old Stanley McAuley was found in the Chamberlain Street area of east Belfast.

Appeal Over Down Cash-Transit Robbery
Detectives in Downpatrick have appealed for information following the robbery of a cash in transit van in the Bath Street area of Ardglass at the weekend. At around 1.30pm on Saturday one of the delivery men had gotten out of the vehicle when he was approached by a man brandishing what's thought to have been a knife.

GAA Player's Death Probe Begins
Detectives have launched an inquiry into the death of the brother of Derry GAA's Vice-Captain Niall McCusker. Connor McCusker, 31, and also a footballer - with the Ballinderry Shamrocks GAC - passed away yesterday evening at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
