£4.5m ecstasy haul was set for NI say police

A Northern Ireland man has been arrested following the interception of the largest consignment of ecstasy tablets intended for the province.

The find is estimated to have a street value of £4.5 million and includes 450,000 tablets. Police believe the tablets were intended for supply in Northern Ireland.

The drugs were seized during an operation by customs officers in the south-east of England. Officers are believed to have been tipped off by the PSNI.

The drugs were discovered when customs officers searched a lorry in the seaport town of Dover.
