Pair Detained After Failing To Stop For Police

A man and a woman have been arrested after failing to stop their car for police.

The incident occurred in Newtownabbey on Thursday night when a gold Citroen Saxo failed to stop for PSNI officers at Prince Charles Way shortly before 22:00.

The car then travelled towards Manse Way and caused damage to a nearby vicinity.

The 19-year-old woman was detained by police, while the 20-year-old man was arrested.

The woman has been released on police bail pending further enquiries, but the man remains in custody.

Three Arrested In Stolen Car Chase

Three men have been arrested after police pursued a stolen car in Irvinestown, County Fermanagh.

The men, aged 24, 26 and 30, were detained after the vehicle collided with a Range Rover in the Mill Street area at about 18:30 on Thursday evening.

Minor injuries were caused to the female driver.

The vehicle had been stolen from a house in the Acres Road area of Craigavon, Co Armagh on Wednesday at some time between 20:15 and 21:00.

All three men have been arrested on suspicion of burglary and a number of driving offences.

Man Convicted Of Benefit Fraud

A man has been convicted at Armagh Magistrates' Court today for claiming benefits he was not entitled to.

42-year-old Gerald Smyth of Kearney Crescent, Whitecross claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £10,754 while failing to declare he was abroad. He was given a five month prison sentence suspended for two years.

Mr Smyth is also required to repay the outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.

Trader Sentenced Over Clocked Cars

A Limavady hidden car trader has been given a five month prison sentence suspended for three years and ordered to pay £4,200 in compensation at Limavady Magistrates Court.

Mr Kenneth Semple pleaded guilty to four charges.

The case began on December 2011 when the Trading Standards Service (TSS) received a complaint about a clocked VW Caddy van being offered for sale from a private house in Limavady.

Further complaints were received by the TSS about a Honda Accord sold to a man with 76,000 miles, when it had in fact travelled at least 123,000 miles.

A VW Passat was sold with 65,000 miles when the true mileage was about 124,421.

Colin Horner Murder: Man Arrested
A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Colin Horner. Mr Horner, 35, was fatally shot in front of his young son in a supermarket car park on Sunday, 28 May. The man was arrested in the Newtownards area on Friday, 16 June. He has been taken to Musgrave Police station for questioning.

Armed Robber Dresses As Police Officer
Police are searching for two men in connection with the attempted armed robbery of a shop in Co Armagh. Police said that one of the men who attempted to rob the shop on West Street, Portadown, was dressed as a policeman. It is understood two men entered the shop at about 10am on Thursday, one of them was carrying a suspected firearm.

Man Arrested In Connection With Police Car Ramming
A 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the intentional ramming of a police car and attempting to hit two officers with his vehicle in L'Derry.

Man Arrested After Car Driven At Police Officer
A 41-year-old man has been arrested after a car was driven at a police officer in County Antrim. It is understood that police were dealing with an unrelated matter in the Bridge Street area just before 2am this morning, 09 November, when a BMW car was driven at an officer.

Man Arrested After Police Car Chase In West Belfast
A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a police car chase in west Belfast. The PSNI saw a red Volkswagen driving in the Beechmount area with no lights on. They signalled for the vehicle to stop, however a pursuit commenced onto the Falls Road where it was stung by other officers from the auto crime team.
