Belfast Giants Win Fourth Elite Title
Northern Ireland ice hockey team, Belfast Giants, have won the Elite league title for the fourth time.
The Giants held Nottingham Panthers to a 3-1 victory on Sunday, marking the team's 11th straight victory in the league.
Sports Minister Carál Ní Chuilín said: "I would like to congratulate Paul Adey and his team on being crowned champions once again. This is a brilliant achievement especially with 10 league games still to be played.
"The Giants have a superb following here and I am sure that the crowd will give them a fantastic welcome home on Friday evening when they return to play at the Odyssey.
"During the World Police and Fire Games last year, I was able to see for myself how popular ice hockey has become here in the north of Ireland with over 50,000 people passing through the Odyssey to watch the games."
The Giants have also secured the Erhardt Conference title for a second successive season.
