Poots To Meet Staff At Emergency Care Summit
The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) is holding an emergency care summit in Belfast on Wednesday to put their concerns to Stormont Health Minister Edwin Poots.
A major incident in the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, highlighting problems and pressures on the A&E services, led to a meeting with frontline accident and emergency staff.
The RCN say that it is an opportunity to put forward concerns about A&E services across Northern Ireland.
After the major incident, in which patients faced waiting times over 12 hours, reduced opening hours at A&E units in other parts of Northern Ireland have added to pressure.
Staff faced “intolerable pressure” and some of them said they were bullied and that the care system in place was not functioning as it should.
