Glentoran to face Finnish Champions League test
Irish league champions, Glentoran are set to face Finnish side HJK Helsinki in this year's Champions League.
The east Belfast side will play the first leg of the qualifying match away on 16 July with the return leg at the Oval on 23 July.
In Uefa Cup, meanwhile, Irish league runner's-up Portadown will face Malmo of Sweden away from home on 14 August with the return leg at Shamrock Park on 28 August.
Irish Cup winners also face a tough Uefa Cup test against Uniao Leiria from Portugal on the same dates.

Northern Ireland football has been given a boost with the news that the Co-operative Insurance Society (CIS) is to continue its sponsorship of the Irish Football League Cup.

CIS Insurance has agreed a three-year deal to back the Irish League’s League Cup football competition. It is believed that the insurance firm have promised a £70,000 plus package for the competition. During the first year the winners will earn £6,000, the beaten finalists £4,000 with the losing semi-finalists receiving £2,000 each.

Glentoran hit by 12-point league deduction
Irish league side Glentoran have been deducted 12 points and fined £7,000 following a mix-up over the registration of new signing Andy Kilmartin. The ruling was made by the Irish League Rules and Revision Committee on Wednesday evening.

Irish Protestant School Funds Defended
There has been a fresh development in an ongoing funding battle for Protestant schools in the Irish Republic. The DUP Deputy Leader Nigel Dodds (pictured) has this week promised to express to the Irish Government in the "strongest possible" terms the views of concerned parents from Protestant schools in the Republic facing budget cuts.
