Police Appeal For Parents Of Baby Found Dead In 1984

Police have issued an appeal for the parents of a baby boy found dead on the banks of the River Lagan on 21 February 1984.

A woman out walking her dog found the babies body inside a green plastic bag at Legacurry Road in Lisburn 30 years ago.

A post-mortem examination found that the baby had died of head injuries.

Calling on the parents of anyone with information about the baby or how it died to come forward, Detective Chief Inspector David Cunningham of the Serious Crime Branch said: "The boy would be a 30-year-old man today, perhaps with a family of his own," he said.

"As it is, he is a baby with no name, no family and no history. We owe it to this child to do everything we possibly can to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
