Lo Hopes Queen's Festival Will Continue
Alliance MLA Anna Lo has said she hopes the Belfast Festival at Queen's will be able to go ahead.
On Tuesday, it was revealed that Ulster Bank had confirmed it was to reduce its sponsorship of the event, from £300,000 to just £100,000.
Commenting on the announcement, Ms Lo said: "The Belfast Festival at Queen's is one of the cultural highlights of the year. I have thoroughly enjoyed attending many events over the years and would be very disappointed if it did not go ahead this year.
"I hope the organisers will be able to find other forms of funding to enable a full festival to take place.
"I believe that there is a role for the Minister of Culture to step in and ensure that we do not lose this magnificent event."
In a statement, the university said it was continuing discussions with "key stakeholders" on the future of this year's festival.
In 2012, the event celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Man Jailed In Connection With Annahilt Cannabis Farm
The PSNI has welcomed the sentencing of a man at Craigavon Crown Court in connection with a cannabis farm disovered in Annahilt in February, 2023. Clive Weir, from the Annahilt area, was sentenced to 18 months in prison and 18 months on licence.
