Unite Signs Recognition Agreement With Peel Ports
Unite has signed a voluntary union recognition agreement with Peel Ports in Liverpool.
The recognition agreement with Unite entitles engineering workers based at the Seaforth container terminal in Liverpool to be represented on both an individual and a collective basis on issues such as pay and terms and conditions.
Unite regional officer Terry Teague said: "Unite is pleased that this agreement has been reached voluntarily. This is a positive step in the right direction as the agreement recognises the rights of workers to join a trade union and benefit from trade union representation on terms and conditions of employment.
"We look forward to working with the company to ensure the best working conditions for employees so that they can in turn deliver a high standard of service to the Seaforth container terminal and its new Liverpool 2 deep-water river container terminal on the River Mersey in Seaforth."
