New Facility Will Boost Business In Armagh
Environment Minister Mark H Durkan has unveiled planning approval for a £500,000 production facility near Armagh.
The site, which will be located on the Moy Road, north of the city, will redevelop the former industrial site for the manufacture of electronic control systems.
The development company – AW Controls – is a local company specializing in the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of automated control systems.
Their services are provided across the UK and Ireland with some products destined for the Far East and USA.
Commenting on the proposals, Mark H Durkan said: "This is a boost for the Armagh area. This proposal regenerates a former industrial site and will bring much needed local jobs and investment to the area.
"It is anticipated that five manufacturing jobs will be created now with the potential for another 10 over the next five years. It will also bring construction jobs in the short term.
"Increasing the availability of small business units should also encourage more businesses in to the Armagh City and District Council area all of which is good news.
"My officials worked closely with the company to ensure a speedy process turning this application around in under four months. Decisions like this all contribute towards my vision for a fast, fair and fit for purpose planning system that builds a better environment and a stronger economy."
