More Nurses For The Royal Victoria Hospital
Forty extra nursing posts are to be appointed following the review of staffing levels at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.
The jobs will be distributed between the accident and emergency (A&E) department which will have fifteen new nurses and the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) which will appoint 25 new nurses.
Health Minister Edwin Poots announced the new posts as he updated the assembly on the progress of a review into A&E care after a major incident declared in January.

The Royal College of Nursing has said that the shortage of nurses in Northern Ireland hospitals has forced health officials to try to recruit staff from abroad. Latest figures from the College revealed that one in every 16 nurses in the province is from outside the British Isles.
