Officers Granted Extra Time In McConville Investigation
Detectives from Serious Crime Branch investigating the abduction and murder of Jean McConville in 1972 have been granted additional time to question a 77-year-old man arrested in west Belfast on Tuesday.
A court has given the PSNI until Friday evening to continue interviewing the suspect at Antrim police station.
37-year-old Mrs McConville was abducted in December 1972 from her flat in the Divis area of west Belfast and shot by the IRA.
Her body was not recovered until it was found on a beach in County Louth in August 2003.

Sinn Féin President, Gerry Adams, has asked his lawyer to contact the police to clarify if detectives need to interview him about the murder of Jean McConville. He was responding to speculation that police might want to question him after veteran republican Ivor Bell was refused bail at the weekend.

Police in the Republic of Ireland have confirmed that the body of a woman found on a Co Louth beach in August is that of "disappeared" Belfast woman Jean McConville. Mrs McConville, 37, was abducted from her Belfast home in 1972 after coming to the aid of a British soldier who had been shot outside her front door.
